Jon Russell

Jon Russell is a high-profile journalist-turned-investor who helps startups define their message and grow their reputation by building compelling in-house storytelling and working with media.

Budget cuts and layoffs mean the power of media and journalists is no longer what it used to be. Rather than a negative, Jon believes that this vacuum gives startups the opportunity to step up and tell their own story with power like never before. That means founders can build their narrative in their own words to reach customers, investors and other partners like never before. Jon brings his media expertise and deep network of writers to the table to help companies build professional media-quality content to grow their business.

Jon has more than 15 years of experience in media and investment, specializing in Southeast Asian tech and Web3. He previously led TechCrunch editorial team in Asia, and established a Southeast Asia newsroom for The Ken, a business-focused online media outlet with more than 50,000 paying subscribers. He spent time as a partner on the Crypto.com Capital fund and continues to invest as an angel investor and a Venture Partner with Singapore-based fund GSG.
